Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between St Paul Hospital Millennium College, Addis Ababa and Children’s Burn Care Foundation Ethiopia
An MOU was signed today, April 23 2012, between St Paul Hospital Millennium College and Children's Burn Care Foundation Ethiopia (CBCF)on the establishment of a formal training program in Theatre Nursing.
Theatre nurses from Ethiopia, Holland and Norway have been working for more than one year to develop curriculum and do other preparations for the training program. The program which will start in August 2012 will last for 2 years and lead to a BSc degree.
A formal training program in theatre nursing does not exist in Ethiopia. The planned training program will be the first of its kind.
16 students will be recruited to the program during the next couple of months.
En historisk dag
6. mars var en merkedag. Det var den offisielle åpningsdagen til den første videre-utdanningen i intensiv- og akuttsykepleie for etiopiere. Begivenheten fant sted på St. Paul Hospital som sammen med MCM (Korean hospital ) er de sykehusene denne utdanningen skal finne sted. Trauma Care Ethiopia har tatt initiativet til og jobbet intens for å få dette opp å gå, og det er gledelig at det nå er i gang.
Children's Burn Care Foundation Ethiopia har også bidratt på sin måte med støtte til leder av programmet, intensivsykepleier Anne Kari Knutsen samt støtte til den andre faste læreren, intensivsykepleier Noodhana Kirba.
Lille Abdi kommer fra øst Etiopia, Somali regionen nær grensa til Somaliland. Han er 2 år og hadde fått varmt vann over venstre albue og underarm. Han var i en kritisk situasjon da han kom til sykehuset, sent av Leger uten Grenser. Han var underernært og hadde lungebetennelse.
